Carnegie Library to reopen in February

The target is for a phased opening, with the library to be back open from Thursday 15 February 2018.

The council would like to thank residents living nearby for their co-operation and help in ensuring that the works have been able to take place and library users for the patience during the temporary closure.

The library will include:

  • Comprehensive book stock, consisting of around 18,000 books, with new stock added regularly
  • A children’s library section, with the ever-popular Wriggle & Rhyme weekly Under-5s story and song time
  • quiet study space
  • IT facilities (with software and keyboards adapted for users with visual impairment available)
  • Free wi-fi
  • DVDs, e-books, audio books and books in large print, self-service book lending

There will be staff present during all opening hours, with library staff on site for at least two hours per day.  During non-librarian hours, experienced customer care staff will be present to assist library users.

The library will initially open for 40 hours per week, and this will increase in Spring/Summer 2018.

For more information see the library FAQs on the council website.
