As part of Dementia Awareness Week (14-20 May) your local Alzheimer’s Society branch is organising a FREE event for the community to come together and join us for a fun-filled afternoon of dementia friendly activities.

Whether you are affected by dementia or would like to find out more about it everyone is welcome.

Lambeth Community Event for dementia awareness

On Friday 19 May from 11am to 3pm, charity staff and volunteers will be organising a community event at The Woodlawns Centre in Streatham to encourage local people to come together to improve dementia awareness and take part in a fun-filled afternoon of dementia friendly activities.

Guests may take part in a relaxing yoga session with the amazing Isabelle Bonfrere and Brixton-based Fierce Grace try something new and create your own digital self-portrait with renowned arts organisations Salmagundi Films , listen or even singalong to live music from local musician Nick Onley or if you just want to take a break, come and enjoy a free cup of tea/light refreshments in the lovely garden areas and meet some new friends.

Our staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have and offer any information about our support services and how you can volunteer for our new scheme, about our support services and how you can volunteer for our new scheme, Side by Side. Currently being piloted in Lambeth, it provides an opportunity for people with dementia to try out an old hobby/interest or pick up a new one, with the support of a volunteer.
