Guest blog: Raw Material

From our base in Brixton, we provide a range of training, mentoring and professional arts projects to develop creative talent. Our main aim is to build confidence in a working environment and find routes into employment.

We provide a wide range of music projects from Rap & Lyricism development, weekly music master classes to touring around London performing at music events such as the Tate, BFI and Royal Festival Hall.

Touring is a large part of our organisation and we love visiting other countries providing music projects. This year we had the pleasure to headline at the Festival de Carcassonne in France, alongside with French musician Bernard Margarit. We also headed out to Senegal ’s FESTA2H hip hop festival, where we provided workshops, shot a music video and provided a DJ set on the night of the hip hop festival. Next year we are planning US, Australia and Italy tour to provide creative workshops and music collaborations.

One of our founding principles is to make young people the center of our organisation. Wherever possible, those accessing our projects and programmes are encouraged to join the Raw Material team and develop their leadership skills and experience.

We have many opportunities for young people to get involved in our projects. Please check out the Raw Material website for all the information you need!
