Up to 2,000 Lambeth small businesses may be eligible for rate relief

We’ve estimated that around 2,000 Lambeth businesses may be eligible for the scheme, which was announced by the Government in the Autumn Statement.

The relief comes into effect from April and is set to last for two years. It aims to help our high streets to flourish and the business premises that qualify for relief must be wholly or mainly used as shops, restaurants, cafes and drinking establishments.

We have some great high streets in Lambeth that support many vibrant small businesses, which give local people jobs and serve our local communities.

Over the next two weeks Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Jackie Meldrum, will be visiting high streets across the borough to highlight the rates relief to businesses who may be eligible.

We’ve outlined some of the qualifying criteria below. If you think your business might be eligible and you’ve not received a letter you can find out more at on the business pages of the Lambeth Council website. You can also call us on 020 8315 2255 or email businessrates@lambeth.gov.uk.
