Give your child a healthy start with Bright Start Week 17-21 November

Bright Start Week is all about helping parents feel confident about the health choices they make for their children. This is really important because to give children the best start in life, parents need good information to enable them to take the best decisions about their child’s health and well-being.

To get the word out to parents about how they can give their children a bright start, Evelina London will run a series of events in Lambeth and Southwark.

All sorts of medical professionals will be available from 11am to 2pm every day during Bright Start Week, 17-21 November at:

These centres will be transformed into health promotion hubs all week to give parents the opportunity to drop in and find out about the importance of healthy living and emotional well-being by speaking to:

  • school nurses
  • midwives
  • speech and language specialists
  • physiotherapists
  • children’s dental experts.

Parents can learn about child safety, preventing accidents and childhood immunisations. Breastfeeding coordinators will also be on hand to give advice.

What’s happening when:

On Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 November, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists will be available to talk to parents about their child’s physical development and speech.

On Monday 17 and Thursday 20 November, the dental team will be talking to parents about dental hygiene, how to prevent child tooth decay, and the truth about sugary drinks and food.

On Friday 21 November 10.30am-12.45pm a special ‘cook and eat’ session will take place at Aylesbury Health Centre in Walworth. The session is free to parents who want to find out more about healthy cooking and eating. Spaces are limited and pre-booking is essential. To book a place contact, Magdalena Matuszewska on 020 3049 4715. Places are booked on a first come first served basis.
