The investment was partly in response to last year’s survey of users that found people were unhappy at the queuing ‘log jam’ and the state of the changing areas.
Darren Pope, Manager of the Rec said; “ Queues are a thing of past, with more space and a fast track entrance for members. We know people want clean, safe and comfortable space to change so we’ve installed new changing rooms on level 4 with showers, lockers and vanity areas.
The gym’s been transformed with cardiovascular equipment replaced by top of the range Technogym equipment, brand new air conditioning and the new group cycle studio has been moved to level 6. Four spin bikes have been added to the gym floor so customers can use them outside of the group exercise classes.
The introduction of a new functional training area offers space for low resistance training aimed at working the whole body in a less stressful way, using everyday movements to build muscle and strength.
Darren said; “ This has brought our facilities up to a standard that cannot be matched in Brixton, The new cardio vascular equipment is easy to use and offers the most up to date technology to help our customers have the best possible work out. Whilst some of the new functional equipment my look daunting at first, our friendly Fitness Instructors are on hand to show you how to get the most from it to help achieve your fitness goals.
