There will be a whole host of things happening to celebrate the re-opening of the Streatham Tate Library and The Mark Bennett Streatham Centre. Come along, have some fun and see for yourself the wonderful new facilities.

Join us this weekend in a celebration of Streatham and the new Streatham library facilities

Saturday 29 March – Community Day, 10am – 5pm

A day of author readings and workshops, community stalls and activities, family friendly events, a vintage tea stand and a display from Tate Britain.

Children’s events are also happening throughout the day, including a chance to meet Tamala Ceasarand and hear a reading from her book Spaghetti and  Cheese Please.

In the evening at 8pm, Streatham Theatre Company presents “Playing with Sugar”.
This project involves local people in devising and performing a new show inspired by the collected reminiscences of local residents from Streatham. To get your free ticket please book via their website www.streathamtheatre.org.uk.

Sunday 30 March – Made in Streatham, 11.00am – 5.00pm

A showcase for Streatham-based artisan craft/designer-makers to represent and sell their work in their own local community.

The Tate Britain exhibition
A display of materials from the Tate Archive on Henry Tate and his relationship with Streatham as well as current marketing materials about exhibitions and programmes on offer at the Tate. A representative from the Archive Digitisation project will also be there to talk about this exciting project.

Streatham Society exhibition
A Timeline illustrating the rich heritage of Streatham will be mounted on the walls of the new Streatham Tate Centre by the Streatham Society.

The Streatham High Road Quilt will also be on display.
