Lambeth: Call for action over Ukrainian refugee crisis

Lambeth Council Leader, Cllr Claire Holland and Cllr Sonia Winifred, the borough’s Cabinet Member for Equalities and Culture, said the current policy of limiting the support of the UK solely to those with family ties is wrong and does not meet our stated aims of being a welcoming country that stands alongside the people of Ukraine.

They said Lambeth Council stands ready to assist with efforts to welcome Ukrainian refugees, highlighting that as a council we have previously joined successful efforts to shelter and house those fleeing Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, and other areas afflicted by war and persecution.
