The Festive Jam was funded by donations from the council’s contractors. Lambeth requires contractors to deliver social value as part of their contracts. This means going beyond the basic service to support the local area, for example by creating jobs and apprenticeships, offering training, and supporting community events and environmental projects. 520 festive hampers were also delivered to residents living in sheltered schemes.
The social value support enables the council to bring people together, creating moments of connection, and reducing social isolation across the borough.
Residents took the opportunity to don their glad rags, make new friends and reconnect with familiar faces as they were entertained by a magician, singer and a commanding DJ. There was also a very lively game of Bingo before residents took to the dance floor.
The event was supported by a wide range of partners and contractors working across Lambeth, including Pinnacle, WPS (Wates Property Services), Effectable, NRT, OCO Connect, T Brown, Nene Valley, JLL (Integral), Hughes and Associates, SER, Focus and T W Drainage, whose involvement helped make the occasion a success.
