The Founding Members
Lambeth Council deputy leader Cllr Rezina Chowdhury, cabinet member for Sustainable Lambeth and Clean Air, said: “I am delighted that the work of the Lambeth Climate Partnership is getting its own platform, where residents of Lambeth can showcase the progress the whole borough has been making towards its Net Zero goals.
“We have made great strides over the last few years, but the coordinated approach with Lambeth’s largest organisations, as well as ongoing work with residents and businesses, is vital to reaching the 20 goals from Lambeth’s Climate Action Plan.
“The new platform will allow residents to interact with the work the council and the Partnership’s members are doing to reach our ambitious goals. “We want it to be a hub of resources and inspiration for anyone interested in climate action and provide them with a platform to learn more and stay informed.”
Moray McConnachie, Executive Director of Operations, Guy and St Thomas Foundation, said: “As founding partners, we are committed to collective action and collaboration to achieve Lambeth’s ambitious climate objectives. We know from our work that the health of our climate and the health of people who live and work in Lambeth are closely linked.
“The Lambeth Climate Partnership brings together organisations and people from across Lambeth to tackle climate change. The new website is an important resource to involve a wider range of people in working together towards our shared goal of a healthier, more sustainable borough.”
Professor Frans Berkhout, Assistant Principal (King’s Climate & Sustainability), King’s College London, said: “We are delighted to be part of the Lambeth Climate Partnership, driving climate action across one of our home boroughs. King’s College London is committed to working with and listening to our local communities, building relationships to take climate action and encouraging and supporting others to address the climate crisis.
“We look forward to showcasing the University’s climate action alongside the other founding members.”
Lawrence Tallon, Deputy Chief Executive, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, said: “As an NHS leader, we recognise the need to lead by example on climate action and be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
“By joining forces with other leading institutions through the Lambeth Climate Partnership, we can help create a more sustainable borough while improving the health and wellbeing of our communities.”
Julie Lowe, Deputy Chief Executive, Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are committed to delivering sustainable healthcare, not just for today’s patients, but tomorrow’s too.
We can do this faster by working closely with our local partners who share our mission of a greener future. The Lambeth Climate Partnership will enable us to continue delivering excellent healthcare services, and improve the population health of Lambeth and beyond.”
Geeta Nanda OBE, Chief Executive, MTVH, said: “Lambeth Climate Partnership’s new platform will help to shine a spotlight on the incredible work happening across the borough. Lambeth has set some of the most ambitious Net Zero goals of any of the UK’s local authorities, and we’re delighted to be part of the partnership which is making these a reality.
“Our flagship regeneration project at Clapham Park is one of the largest in Europe, and includes a District Heating Network across the estate, which improves energy efficiency and is making a significant contribution to the goals included in Lambeth’s Climate Action Plan.
“The new platform will give greater exposure to this and similar initiatives across the borough, giving such projects the recognition they deserve.”
