The categories are as follows:
1. Bringing your neighbourhood together award
2. Making Lambeth safer community award
3. Helping people into jobs and training community award
4. Cleaner and greener community award
5. Keeping Lambeth healthy community award
6. Young person’s community award
7. Lord Scarman award
8. Voluntary or community organisation of the year award
Mary Killoughery received a Clapham and Stockwell Civic Award in 2013 said:
“I was shocked at first but once it sank in I was really pleased that people thought so highly of me and appreciate what I do. I love my job and get great satisfaction in supporting others. It is a real honour to receive this award. I feel humbled and blessed and I will treasure it forever”.
Hayley Rea, who at the age of 21 Hayley established a dance school called Aim High Dance Academy, which offers free/low fee classes and a mentoring scheme for young adults. She received a Lambeth champion award in 2013 and said:
“It felt great to be appreciated for the work I do. There are so many different ways that people work to piece Lambeth together and I would encourage others to volunteer and help keep the great community vibe alive.”
