Lambeth confirms new top team following General Election

Cllr Tim Windle is the new joint Cabinet Member for Healthier Communities, following Cllr Jim Dickson’s election as Labour MP for Dartford on July 4.

Cllr Dickson, who has been councillor for Herne Hill & Loughborough Junction for over 20 years, also served as Leader of Lambeth Council between 1994 and 2000.

The changes were announced by Council Leader Claire Holland at the Full Council meeting on 17 July.

Cllr Holland said: “On the fourth of July we saw the election of the fantastic Cllr Jim Dickson in Dartford and I know he will be a passionate and committed member of parliament.

“I’m extremely grateful to him for his dedication and work as a cabinet member in recent years, driving forward major achievements in health integration and mental health in particular.

“I’m pleased to announce that Cllr Tim Windle will step up in his place, bringing a wealth of experience at both deputy Cabinet and Cabinet level and also from his own personal and professional experience in health.”

Cllr Windle, who had previously been deputy Cabinet Member for Planning Strategy, Investment and Housing Delivery, was also in the Cabinet covering maternity leave last year. He will share his new Cabinet position with Cllr Jacqui Dyer, who had previously shared the role with Cllr Jim Dickson.

Cllr Holland also welcomed three new Labour councillors who had been elected at by-elections earlier in the year: Emma Nye for Knight’s Hill, Dominic Armstrong for Streatham Common and Vale and Sarah Cole, also for Streatham Common and Vale.

She added: “I know that you will all serve your wards and this council with the commitment and the hard work that our residents deserve.”

Cllr Dickson will continue to serve the residents of Herne Hill and Loughborough Junction, undertaking casework alongside his two council colleagues in his ward, until a by-election is announced.  He has also confirmed that he stopped taking his councillor’s allowance on July 5.
