The exact location of the issue can be identified using mobile device location, with different map types available so that people can give a precise location to council response teams. Other details, including images, can also be added. If any issues reported are the responsibility of Transport for London information will be directly routed to them. Residents can choose to enter their contact details onto the form to receive updates on the issue or can submit their report anonymously.
The smoother reporting process will make it much easier for residents to report issues and will help council teams to work more efficiently. People will still be able to report highways issues over the phone if they prefer.
Councillor Andy Wilson, Cabinet Member for Finance and Performance said:
“We are excited to offer a digital option for residents, so they no longer need to call or email to report highway issues. The new reporting form is detailed, yet simple and is easily filled in, enabling residents to report an issue when it is convenient for them.
“This is just one example of the work we’re doing to ensure residents have more easy and accessible ways to contact the council with any issues they have.”
Councillor Danny Adilypour, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Transport, Environment and Clean Air said:
“No one knows local streets better than the people who live on them, and every report we receive helps us to keep roads and pavements safe. This is especially important for wheelchair users, parents with pushchairs and cyclists who are more vulnerable to a bump in the road or an uneven surface.
We’ve invested millions of pounds in improving roads and pavements in recent years and these resident reports will help us to keep our public spaces in the best possible condition”
