Lambeth: Easier access to HIV prevention medication with digital PrEP Service

Delivered by Preventx, the UK’s largest provider of remote sexual health testing, the increase availability of PrEP for Lambeth residents. Lambeth has the highest diagnosed prevalence of HIV in the country, and this new initiative aims to bring London closer to achieving zero new HIV cases by 2030.

This announcement comes shortly after the publishing of a report by Lambeth-hosted London HIV Prevention Programme. Focussing on access to HIV prevention options for London’s Black heritage communities, the report cites the importance of expanding access to digital prevention options which provide flexibility and confidentiality, which were both recognised as barriers to access.

Councillor David Bridson, Lambeth Cabinet Member for Healthier Communities (job share) said: “As a daily pill, PrEP is a powerful tool in the work to end new HIV transmissions, and it is essential that those at higher risk of contracting HIV are supported to access it.

“This initiative will break down barriers to access, and support Lambeth residents to better protect their health.”

The service is supported by specialist Clinical Nurses, ensuring that every aspect of care is grounded in evidence-based practice, compassion, and accessibility.

Residents can order PrEP online, complete simple at-home tests, and receive ongoing clinical support through a digital-first model designed to reduce barriers to care.
