Lambeth: Helping people claim Pension Credit

Pension Credit is a payment that older residents are entitled to and can provide support during the ongoing cost of living crisis. Working with social policy and data analytics company Policy in Practice, 883 eligible households were directly contacted, informing them of their Pension Credit entitlement that was going unclaimed.

Word from the Cabinet

Cllr David Amos, Lambeth’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Cost of Living, said: “Lambeth residents have been hit hard by the cost-of-living crisis and many households are really struggling. So this work to ensure hundreds of older people in the borough have been able to secure this extra money is really important.

“Pension Credit goes beyond the almost £3,500 extra per year but also helps people access other much needed support as older residents who receive it are also eligible for further support including cold weather payments, attendance allowance and a free TV licence.”

Since February, £8.3m in unclaimed Pension Credit has been secured by pensioners across London. This valuable benefit is often widely underclaimed, with £246.5 million still unclaimed across London.
