The full results for Lambeth Schools will be released in November by the Department for Education, but a visit to The Norwood School in Crown Dale suggests plenty of local success.
Top performers at the school included Thomas Law who achieved seven grades 9s and two grades 8s. While Vivian Sharkey, who also achieved seven grades 9s and two grade 8s, said: “I can’t believe it – I worked so hard but I also gave time to myself. So it shows my approach worked.”
Other pupils who were celebrating at The Norwood School included Otto Balaam who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s, saying: “I’m really pleased, I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’m looking forward to the future.”
Also among the happy students was Rosabella Morgan who said, “It’s amazing – I’m so happy”, on receiving five grade 9s, three grades 8s and a D* in Dance which is full marks for the qualification.
Cllr Alice Weavers, Lambeth’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Congratulations to all young people receiving GCSE results. We wish everyone good luck with their next steps and thank you to everyone who supports students with their GCSEs and transitions to post-16 education and training.”
