Lambeth Council has appointed Jim Gamble QPM as the borough’s first Independent Safeguarding Children and Young People’s Commissioner. He will work to ensure that council services and partnerships are as effective as possible in supporting for children, young people, and families

Lambeth: New children and young people commissioner appointed

The new Independent Safeguarding Children and Young People’s Commissioner will develop opportunities and support Lambeth Council partners.  Jim Gamble will also be responsible for independently chairing and scrutinising the effectiveness of local services. The role’s main goal will be to make sure Lambeth if providing the best possible service for children, young people and their families.  

Jim was the founder and CEO of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre. He has an excellent record, as the first chair to lead a Local Safeguarding Children Board to an outstanding Ofsted judgement. He was also part of the leadership team that drove another London authority from ‘inadequate’ to ‘Good, with outstanding leadership’ in just two years.
