The council’s ‘Call for Sites’, launched on 19 January, will give developers, landowners and members of the public the opportunity to suggest sites suitable for housing, commercial or other uses.
It comes ahead of the process of developing a new Local Plan later in 2026, which will ensure the council can meet the needs for housing, employment and other uses in the borough in the years to come. Before beginning this process, the council needs to have a good understanding of the availability of land for development in Lambeth.
Word from the Cabinet
Councillor Danny Adilypour, Deputy Leader, Housing, Investment and New Homes, said: “The Call for Sites is a first step ahead of producing a new Local Plan for Lambeth, which is a vital blueprint for how we intend to deliver all our ambitions – including growing the local economy, creating well-paid, skilled local jobs, and building more social and affordable housing for local people.
“We’d encourage everyone to suggest potential sites for new homes and workspaces: it’s important that we know what land is available for development, so we can look at every potential site to deliver new homes and jobs for the benefit of the whole borough.”
Lambeth is interested in sites or areas of land that offer the potential to be developed for housing, commercial uses and/or can deliver the necessary infrastructure to support growth.
You do not have to be a landowner or developer to submit a site. The council is keen to hear from residents about sites in their local area that could be used more effectively. All sites submitted will be assessed by the council for their suitability, availability and achievability
Participants can complete the survey on the council website to submit their proposed site. The survey closes at midnight on Friday 20 March 2026.
