The council is determined to tackle the issue head on because fly-tipping is a blight on our communities as well as being an unacceptable enviro-crime. There are clear and well-established ways to dispose of waste available across the borough.
Working under the ‘Clean Lambeth Campaign’ banner the council’s Lambeth’s Environmental Enforcement Team has led initiative, conducting a series of operations with a focus on each of the borough’s five town centres.
Since it started, the council has carried out 198 investigations into fly-tipping incidents, issued 26 warning letters that further action could be taken, handed out 17 fixed penalty notices and made six verbal warnings. This has been accompanied throughout by engagement with local residents and businesses on how to best dispose of waste.
