Lambeth: United in rejecting division and hatred

Held to coincide with the start of national Inter Faith Week, the council’s leadership will join faith and community leaders at the event from 5.30pm to 7.30pm in the Assembly Hall at Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton.

Residents are invited to join the event which will feature short speeches, information stalls, networking opportunities and refreshments. To book Lambeth residents can get a ticket via Select tickets – Lambeth Community Cohesion Event – Assembly Hall, Lambeth Town Hall

Cllr Claire Holland, the Leader of Lambeth Council said: “We our welcoming our communities to the town hall to join us in standing proud of our unity and to celebrate our diverse communities.

“In Lambeth we reject all forms of violence, terror and hate, including antisemitism and islamophobia. We are a proud Borough of Sanctuary, and committed to celebrating the diversity that makes our wonderful borough so special.

“But at the same time we know hate crime is rising, hate speech is spreading on social media and our communities across Lambeth are feeling the impact. We want to bring people together and reject messages of disunity and celebrate our unity.”

Lambeth Council has also launched a survey to get people’s views on hate crime in the borough. The council acknowledges people can be reluctant to report hate crime, and wants to understand why that is and what we can change to make people more confident to officially share incidents.
