The new better bins have already been installed in Brixton town centre and will be introduced to Clapham shortly. Further work will next follow in Stockwell, Streatham and West Norwood.
Word from the Cabinet
Cllr Ciara Alleyne, Lambeth’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency and Future Generations, said: “We thank residents for their patience while we carry out this bin replacement work. I hope that local people will be pleased with the new, cleaner bins that you can also use to dispose of recyclables separately.
“We have worked with local stakeholders to get this right as we are committed to cleaner, pleasant high streets and are pleased that this replacement project is being carried out at no extra cost to the council.”
Service levels maintained
There will be no change to how often the new bins are emptied, but recycling rates are expected to rise.
