Lambeth Council has today written to the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt expressing serious concerns about the impacts on communities that will result from the latest Government cuts to the public sector expected to be announced in his Autumn Statement on Thursday.

Letter: Lambeth calls on the Government to protect vital frontline services

The letter from Cllr David Amos, Lambeth’s Cabinet lead for Finance and Cost of Living, highlights that new cuts would harm council efforts to protect its poorest households from the impacts of the Cost of Living Crisis. Further funding reductions would also harm social care, health services and support for the homeless – despite rising need.

Cllr Amos has set out a series of measures needed to protect vulnerable residents ahead of this winter, as well as support for the most under threat sectors of the local economy. To read these measures in full see the letter below:
