The new 30-point Santander Cycles docking station will be on Dulwich Road, helping more people make everyday journeys by bike and improving access to Herne Hill, Brockwell Park and Brockwell Lido.
The expansion is being made possible through developer contributions secured from local housing development, showing how growth can help fund practical improvements for the wider community.
A word from Cabinet
Cllr Rezina Chowdhury, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Lambeth and Clean Air, said
“I’m delighted that we are bringing Santander Cycles to Herne Hill, helping more people access affordable, healthy and sustainable ways to get around. We’re grateful for funding from developer contributions to the Higgs Industrial Estate, which helps us invest in the local area and bring low-cost travel options to more residents.”
Santander Cycles is one of the most affordable ways to travel in the capital, with its £3.50 day pass helping more Londoners access convenient and sustainable journeys. For many people, expanding the reach of cycle hire means more choice in how they travel, lower transport costs and easier access to everyday active travel.
The new docking station extends the reach of Santander Cycles further into the borough and makes it easier for residents to travel actively using the borough’s Healthy Routes and Healthy Neighbourhoods.
Investments like this help make our neighbourhoods fit for the future and make cycling more accessible and attractive, encouraging more people to choose healthier and more sustainable travel routes.
