Get Involved!
Lambeth’s Annual Electoral Canvass has begun, and a small number of Electoral Canvassers are needed to visit non-responding addresses from Thursday 28 September to Thursday 26 November.
Canvassers make a minimum number of visits to properties in their area to confirm voter details at each address and encourage eligible unregistered voters to apply.
You’ll be provided with a handheld tablet device and full training and can work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
Canvassing provides an opportunity to boost your earnings in your spare time whilst learning about the democratic process and getting to know the borough.
You’ll need good communication and time management skills and an ability to stick to deadlines. Payment is on a competitive per-response basis.
To apply please email canvassstaff@lambeth.gov.uk for an application pack and include ‘Electoral Canvass 2023’ in the subject heading by Friday 11 August.
Lambeth’s Annual Electoral Canvass 2023
Lambeth’s Electoral Registration Officer is legally required to contact every residential address in the borough each year to confirm voter details. The Electoral Services team wrote to around 147,000 addresses at the start of July, kicking off this year’s canvass which runs until November.
Around two-thirds of households were matched against national or local data and only need to respond if details have changed. All other households must respond – either to confirm details haven’t changed or to provide updated information.
Electoral Services must send reminders and make personal visits to all non-responding addresses before the revised electoral register is published in December. The new register will be used for any elections taking place in Lambeth up to November 2024, so it’s important it is accurate as possible!
