Promote democracy in Lambeth and earn extra cash!

Our Electoral Services team wrote to around 147,000 addresses at the start of July, kicking off this year’s canvass which runs until November. We’re now looking for a small number of local people to help us make sure every resident who has been sent a form responds with their up-to-date information.

As an Electoral Canvasser, you will visit non-responding households from Thursday 29 September to Monday 14 November.

Why we need your help

Lambeth’s Electoral Registration Officer is legally required to contact every residential address in the borough each year to confirm voter details.

Around two-thirds of households were matched against national or local data and only need to respond if details have changed.  All other households must respond – either to confirm details haven’t changed or to provide updated information.

Electoral Services must send reminders and make personal visits to all non-responding addresses before the revised electoral register is published in December.  The new register will be used for any elections taking place in Lambeth up to November 2023, so it’s important it is accurate as possible!

More information and how to apply

Canvassers make a minimum number of visits to properties in their area to confirm voter details at each address and encourage eligible unregistered voters to apply.

You’ll be provided with a handheld tablet device and full training and can work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.

Canvassing provides an opportunity to boost your earnings in your spare time whilst learning about the democratic process and getting to know the borough.

You’ll need good communication and time management skills and an ability to stick to deadlines.  Payment is on a competitive per-response basis

Email canvassstaff@lambeth.gov.uk for an application pack and include ‘Electoral Canvass 2022’ in the subject heading by Friday 26 August!
