The Search is on For Lambeth’s best swim teacher

Pupils, parents, and swimming professionals in Lambeth – you’re invited to nominate a swimming teacher from your local Better leisure centre: Brixton Recreation Centre, Clapham Leisure Centre, Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre, Vauxhall Leisure Centre, or West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre..

National final

Which teacher has gone the extra mile and shown exceptional dedication and care through their teaching? Lambeth’s local winner will go forward to a national final at the London Aquatics Centre (the 2012 Olympic venue) in autumn.

UK’s biggest swimming teacher

The search is the brainchild of Lambeth’s leisure centre operator partner. They employ over 1,400 swimming teachers to teach more than 18,100 swimming lessons each week.

Lifesaving life skill

Daniel Arnamnart, Better’s National Aquatics Project Manager said: “We felt it only right to recognise the amazing work they undertake, teaching people of all ages and abilities to swim.  Drowning remains the third highest cause of accidental death of children in the UK, so teaching this crucial life skill is genuinely important. We urge anyone who has been inspired, enthused or encouraged by their swimming teacher to make a nomination and ensure their efforts are acknowledged.”
