Schools active travel competition returns

Street Tag is a free app-based system for pupils, their  families and staff to collect points for active travel – walking, cycling  or scooting (but not driving) past virtual tags which are on routes to schools and in parks.  The five top scoring schools each season can win prizes of  up to £500.

Lambeth’s Public Health and Active Travel Teams are partnering with Street Tag to get families active in 2024. The second 12-week season starts on 8 May and runs to 12 July.  Teams can join at any time during the season  so encourage your schools to sign up to the Leader Board for the in order to competed for a prize.   Every school in Lambeth is invited. School teams can include up to 250 parents, carers, children, staff and governors – and a school is allowed more than one team.

Season 1 Street Tag results

In season 1 (January  to March)  683 players in 14 teams scanned a total of 140,366 tags (both in fixed locations and special one-day events with extra high-scoring tags) and covered almost 73,000 miles.

The top five schools on the Leader Board at the end of March were:

  • St Saviour`s CofE Primary School – winning £50
  • Ashmole Primary School – £350
  • Jessop Primary School – £150

  • St Helen`s RC Primary School – £50

Cllr Ben Kind, Cabinet Member for Children & Families in Lambeth said in Season 1: “We want Lambeth to be the best place for children and young people to grow up, where they can thrive and be their best selves. Street Tag isn’t just about getting active – it’s about sparking a spirit of adventure! This exciting competition not only promotes healthy habits among schools but also inspires families to explore Lambeth’s vibrant parks, green spaces, libraries, adventure playgrounds, sports facilities, and cultural trails.
