Lambeth Council has issued a clarification on its budget planning following the Cabinet meeting on July 22.
Natalie Kane, Lambeth’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Inclusion, Democracy and Culture, said:
“Libraries are at the heart of Lambeth’s communities – spaces for learning, imagination, organising and enriching our lives.
“Despite the very challenging financial position of the Council the administration has neither considered or agreed to a proposal to cut library opening hours and has no plans to do so.
“We will defend front line services from austerity.”
