Dawood, undertaking a level 2 business administration apprenticeship, has ambitions to run his own accountancy firm and will be looking for an ACCA course and more experience within the financial industry.
His employer, Capita, is also the apprenticeship training provider. Capita has now taken on six apprentices and is currently looking to take on an additional two more young people from Lambeth to work in their Bromley office.
Dawood is on target with his level 2 business administration coursework and enjoying his day-to-day job at Brent Council working as a Revenues Officer. Dawood says about his experience:
“Undertaking this apprenticeship has allowed me to increase my work ethic, improve my communication and professionalism when working in a business environment.
Apprenticeships are a good way to get hands on experience as well as earning money. I would recommend it to others as it provides good experience which comes in handy.”
Do you think apprentices are a good route into a career?
In a recent survey by British Gas, 40 per cent of the London teenagers said they were tempted by apprenticeships and the opportunity to learn skills whilst gaining paid work experience. More than half of those planning to go to university had discussed apprenticeships with their teachers. Read more about it on the Evening Standard website and leave your comments below.
