Hosted by Fayon Dixon, a Lambeth resident of nearly 20 years, the evening which was held in partnership between Lambeth Council and a range of employers.
The BeLambeth Awards showcased the diversity and talent within the borough, with categories recognising a wide range of contributions. From honouring outstanding volunteers, championing diversity and inclusion and recognising innovative projects driving social change, each award highlighted the remarkable efforts shaping the future of Lambeth.
The initiative is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to tackle inequality by improving access to jobs and training for all our communities, and helping people achieve their full potential.
The awards are backed by the new Be Lambeth skills and employment portal at be.lambeth.gov.uk which connects residents, especially those from underserved communities, with employability training and job opportunities.
Cllr Claire Holland, the Leader of Lambeth Council, opened the ceremony. She said: “It was a real pleasure to hear people’s stories of success and sit alongside so many employers from Lambeth who share our commitment to open up opportunities to jobs and skills to all our residents.
“Our residents are ambitious, hard working and committed. The BeLambeth awards was a real celebration of that I congratulate the award winners for their efforts.”
During the evening The Boury Academy presented a special performance by two talented young Lambeth residents while Pegasus Opera Company also entertained guests at the ceremony.
