The Community Living Room at The Black Prince Trust Community Hub is a partnership funded by Lambeth Together. It builds on work undertaken by the Thriving North Lambeth network, established in 2020 as part of the Thriving Communities initiative.
This is Lambeth’s second Community Living Room (CLR). Thriving Stockwell’s Community Living Room opened July 2023.
Word from the Cabinet
Cllr Jim Dickson, Lambeth Cabinet member for Healthier Communities, said:
“Community Living Rooms represent the valuable impact that community-led partnerships can have on day-to-day life through a focus on prevention and early intervention.
“Lambeth, Black Prince Trust and local partners have co-designed activities to meet local needs and work with underserved communities where we know there are health inequalities – offering something for the elderly and isolated, Black and multi-ethnic communities, parents with young children, unemployed people and those with physical and mental health conditions.”
Health and wellbeing programme
Health and wellbeing activities are available five days per week, with already more than 600 sign-ups. The Black Prince Trust already hosts health and wellbeing initiatives including monthly visits from the Lambeth Health & Wellbeing Bus.
BPT Health & Wellbeing Projects Lead Beverley de Valmency said: “The local community welcomes and embraces this Health and Wellbeing programme. It is a privilege to offer North Lambeth residents this fantastic blend of activity, healthcare information, support and signposting, space to socialise, warmth and healthy food – much needed in the current cost of living crisis.”
