Lambeth Council lights up Town Hall to celebrate Care Leavers

National Care Leavers Week 2023 runs from Wednesday 25 October to Wednesday 1 November, but Lambeth will be lighting up the Town Hall until Friday 3 November.

The week celebrates all young people aged 16-25 years old who has been ‘looked after’ at some point since they were 14 years old, and were in care on or after their 16th birthday. To recognise Lambeth’s care leavers, 25 of them also attended a champagne reception to light up the London Eye.

Cllr Ben Kind, Cabinet Member for Children and Families said: “We at Lambeth are incredibly proud of the independence and success that many of our Care Leavers have achieved. They are all brilliant and deserve to be celebrated and recognised.

“I’m proud that earlier this year we made being care experienced a protected characteristic, becoming one of the first councils to do so. We have also partnered with the Care Leaver Covenant and encourage businesses and other Councils to do the same.”
