Sharing Knowledge, Strengthening Impact: Living Wage Foundation Places Conference in Lambeth

Lambeth Council is the proud host of this year’s Living Wage Foundation Places Conference. On 22 May 2025 we brought together 40 employers from Living Wage Places Local Action Groups from London and across the UK.

Living Wage Places

The Living Wage Foundation is the central organisation of the independent movement advocating that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. Living Wage Places is a scheme run by the Living Wage Foundation to recognise and celebrate the geographical areas that are doing more to expand Living Wage accreditation in their place. There are 16 recognised Living Wage Places across the UK.

Learning and impact

This year’s annual conference was all about collaboration, learning, and impact, with plenty of opportunities to network, share experiences, and gain practical tools for change.

Key themes discussed at the event included:

  • Overcoming challenges in Living Wage initiatives (such as lead generation, retention, energising action groups and more)
  • Economic impact and case studies from across their national network
  • Providing practical communications assistance to enhance effectiveness
  • Dedicated networking to strengthen relationships and spark new ideas.

Benefits to delegates

  • An Action Group Carousel, where action group members shared their experiences, including successes, challenges, and solutions that have impacted outcomes.
  • An analysis of the latest data and case studies from the Living Wage Places network, showcasing key insights, takeaways and achievements.
  • A press and communications training session conducted by experts from the Living Wage Foundation, providing delegates with tools to enhance their communication and broaden their audience.
  • Employers provided insights on how they have incorporated the Living Wage into their planning and procurement processes, resulting in changes within their communities.

 Word from the Cabinet

Cllr Marcia Cameron, Lambeth’s Cabinet Member for Economic Inclusion, said: “Lambeth Council is on a journey to become a Living Wage Place, a recognition awarded to places to address in-work poverty by making the Living Wage a norm.”
