The ballot results, which were announced on Friday 27 February, demonstrated strong support from local businesses and provide a new mandate for the continuation of services, projects, and support provided by Station to Station.
The ballot recorded a 85.59 per cent approval from businesses, reaffirming their commitment to the BID’s vision.
Cllr Marcia Cameron, Cabinet Member for Economic Inclusion, said: “West Norwood and Tulse Hill have thriving town centres and Station to Station Business Improvement District have made a significant contribution that is now mandated to continue for the next five years.
“I welcome the strong backing for Station to Station BID and the council looks forward to continuing our working partnership with them.”
The key figures from the ballot are as follows:
- Total number of eligible businesses in the BID area: 483
- Total returned ballot papers: 238
- Turnout: 49.28%
- Total valid votes received: 229
- Total rateable value of valid votes cast: £7,220,200
- Total number of valid votes in favour of the BID: 196
- Total rateable value of votes cast in favour of the BID: £6,707,800
- Percentage of votes cast in favour of the BID: 85.59%
- Percentage of the total rateable value of votes cast in favour of the BID: 92.90%
This result reinforces the BID’s pivotal role in enhancing the local area for the business community over the next five years. Station to Station’s renewal will unlock investment into the neighbourhood over the next five years, ensuring businesses and the local economy can continue to grow and thrive.
