On Thursday 21 August at The Norwood School in Norwood and Lilian Baylis Technology School in Kennington thrilled students gathered to get their results.

At Lilian Baylis Technology School, this year, 20 per cent of students achieved grade 9s in at least 1 subject—more than double the number achieved last year.

A group of students at The Norwood School were extremely proud of their results, having worked hard to get their grades. Linden, Sophie, Lola, Tymoteusz, Ealish and Diana all hope to go onto University but will be staying on at The Norwood School to pursue a variety of subjects including Sociology, English Literature, Photography, Music, Chemistry and Biology.

Daisy, also at The Norwood School said: “I’m really pleased with my results! It wasn’t what I expected, I did better in things that I didn’t think I would, like English, which I got a 9 in. I was also surprised by science as I got an 87”.

Jamellah, a student at Lilian Baylis Technology School said: “I like it here so I will stay for my A Levels!” and when asked if she had any idea about potential carrers “I want to be a nurse”.

A Lambeth spokesperson said: “I want to congratulate all the brilliant students who have received their GCSE results. We know how hard they all work for their exams and the hours of studying and attending classes that goes into preparing for GCSEs.

“Their hard work and effort has clearly paid off with some brilliant results being seen at schools like Lilian Baylis where 41 per cent of students achieved grade 8s in at least 1 subject, which is double last year. This year, the A8 score at The Norwood School was 48.9

“These brilliant improvements are a testimony to how hard Lambeth schools, teachers and carers work to nurture talent and support our brilliant Lambeth students to help them achieve anything they want.

“Pupils, parents and carers should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved today. We hope they are excited for what is to come, whatever option they choose, be it continue onto A-levels, start work, get BTEC qualifications, T-levels or start an apprenticeship. I wish them every success in whatever they choose to do, and Lambeth is here to help them along the way.”
