WeAreWaterloo began in 2006 and has secured a fifth term following the successful renewal ballot, which was announced on Friday 20, February. The BID runs initiatives and services that improve the local area for people who work, live, visit and invest in Waterloo.
Cllr Marcia Cameron, Lambeth’s Cabinet Member for Economic Inclusion, said: “Congratulations to WeAreWaterloo BID. The fantastic result is a testament to the all the hard work that the BID carries out, and affirms businesses’ dedication to the BID’s mission and continued enhancement of the local area.
“I would like to thank WeAreWaterloo BID on behalf of all businesses in the area for their efforts and we, as a council, look forward to continuing to work with WeAreWaterloo BID over the next five years to help deliver their vision for Waterloo.”
The key figures from the ballot are as follows:
- Total number of eligible businesses in the BID area: 571
- Total returned ballot papers: 346
- Turnout: 60.60%
- Total valid votes received: 325
- Total rateable value of valid votes cast: £50,337,250
- Total number of valid votes in favour of the BID: 302
- Total rateable value of votes cast in favour of the BID: £45,815,750
- Percentage of votes cast in favour of the BID: 92.92%
- Percentage of the total rateable value of votes cast in favour of the BID: 91.02
