He studies one day a week at Lambeth College Clapham Centre, which opened its Learning Street in October 2013 and includes a brand new training kitchen and restaurant.
Richard, 24, says: “My interest in cooking and food originated from when I once worked in a café. I love being creative and practical and this subject combines both. Being an apprentice enables me to earn and learn, to acquire skills, good working practice, theory and valuable work experience along the way. This is a fantastic second chance for me to become a qualified and experienced professional chef.”
Cactus Kitchens is the venue for the filming of Saturday Kitchens as well as a Cookery School

My sister Cat is working as an apprentice tailor for a tailor who does work for Savile Row and the west end and her best friend Ally is an apprentice set builder for the Royal Opera House. They both work amazingly hard and show that there are so many options for apprenticeships beyond the trades people think of!
Hi Charley, thanks for telling us about Cat and Ally. You’re right, there are apprenticeships in so many different fields. There’s a good resource at http://www.apprenticeships.org.uk/types-of-apprenticeships.aspx with examples 🙂
